Caution: This Is a Public Service post = not usual post=boring.....Nothing is perfect and I admit that the current prefectorial board is nowhere near it yet. In line with the governments drive to create more transparency in all public service sectors, I will field any complaints whatsoever and explain in detail right here for everyone to see to clear up any misconceptions there are concerning this years prefectorial board.
The reason is to enable to provide quality service to all and further improve the prefects contributions to the order of the school while maintaining optimum student satisfaction.
This week I will answer some complaints made by
Tzu Ting the best I can. (please read the post linked
here first to better understand the answers that I am fielding now.
New rulesNew rules were implemented because we got a new headmistress. Her last school was in Subang Jaya. Ask most students from Subang (like
Vincent) and you will see that they have more 'control freak' policies compared to Samad.
Take for instance, they have CCTVs that monitor the students every move and they banned certain clubs because it was deemed too 'open'.
In other words, we have it easy.
She is bringing her style of administration here. As the head prefect, I have to implement whatever policies that she drafts like the current 'No more morning assembly' one.
1.No more morning assemblyDaily morning assemblies eat up too much precious time better used teching. The students often end up in the class after 7.45am.
Another reason is to get the teachers/substitute teachers to come into the class early. Over the last few months the teachers have been coming in late for classes as there was no principal. In any school administration, teachers discipline not only students, has to be taken into account.
2.No more Co-curriculum announcementsYou cant make any more announcements during the only morning assembly one which is on Monday as it makes the current notice boards redundant. The whole idea is to get the students to read it.
One way to get the word across is to use your form reps. The whole assembly thing in the eyes of our new principle is seen as a big waste of time as it eats up valuable time better used teaching.
If you have a free period as your first period it is the duty of the class teacher to sit in your class. If the class teacher is not available during that period, negotiate with another teacher to come into your class.
Note: This is a temporary measure. I will consult with Pn.Maha on this matter.
3.Sitting when eating during recessDuring recess its advisable to seat and eat as it frees up the walk way as to not inconvenience other people. We have to consider the needs of the silent majority not only the outspoken minority. Recent checks have revealed that there is always adequate seating areas. Its just they are not used.
Please cooperate and everything will be fine. What is so hard about sitting down? If they are any problems with the prefects eg: they are unreasonable, just complain personally to me.Don't drag the prefect to see Pn.Maha she will definitely defend the prefect (unless its super clear the prefect is in the wrong.)
4.Bringing sweets or any junk food to classIts not the culture in Subang or any other school to bring sweets and other junk food into class. In line with the minister of educations student health policy we have been directed to confiscate,if found any food stuffs brought to class not deemed to be recess rations. Eg: Snacks such as sweets, junk food etc
Its also rude to eat in class when there are teachers around. Even with no teachers around, eating In class creates mess.Im not saying that its you, but there are many irresponsible people out there. We cannot implement one rule then exclude a certain group.Thats nepotism. We have to be fair and treat all students as equals.
There are exceptions though such as class parties where teachers approval is given.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused to your part.We are just following orders and in that doing our duties as school prefects.
5. Everyone going back at 1.50pmAs far as I know, If they haven't changed your timetable and that it ends at 1.10pm you can go back home as its the schools fault for mis-managing the schedule. But if your time-table is re-shuffled to 1.50pm you obviously have to stay back until your classes end.
Thats that. I hope that clears up any reasonable doubt or questions that were running through your mind. If there are any further questions please do not be afraid to ask. If requested, Identities of the complainer can be withheld.
I hope in by doing this I can increase the transparency of the current prefectorial board to all students.
