Lets talk about sex

A recent survey on sexual health by Durex shows that Malaysians are one of the most active participants in the world at a whooping yearly average of 74 times.(One time meaning for one whole duration. Multiple sex acts throughout the night do not count.)

On another unrelated survey by Pfizer and Durex shows that Malaysians knowledge of sex in general (on condoms,STDs,AIDS and other sexual myths) ranked one of the lowest in the world. This is not helped by our pure insistence of avoiding the subject.

From what I can take from this whole issue, Malaysians are adept in doing something they have absolutely no Idea about. Take for one urban legend (with dubious legitimacy)where supposedly infertile couples go for in-vitro treatment and find out they are not infertile but just weren't having sex. Apparently they just sat beside each other and hoped that nature 'take its course'.

The whole point is that doing something you know little or nothing about is dangerous.

A friend of mine from once told me that more than half of the form 6 girls attending her school don't even know what a clitoris was! (thats adult 18 year old women). Not knowing the existence of the source of your own sexual pleasure is one thing, I'm sure a larger number don't know the position of their own clitoris(or their vagina for one thing) is, which is sad, because a guy like me knows more about women's sexual health then 99.9% of the Malaysian female population.

While I'm not asking you girls to go on a masturbatory craze.(wait you do know what that is right?) Its very important to know your own anatomical features.

Actually several factors got me to typing this out. First was the reaction I got when I showed my classmates an article titled G-spot really exists. Almost all of them had no Idea what in the world THAT was.(their blank faces evident)

Another reason Is their pure ignorance on all things sexual and their disturbingly innocent curiosity. Which is disturbing in the sense I don't want to seem like I'm corrupting them. But I don't want them to receive mis-information or live with their ignorance until the bridal bed and beyond either.

Its sad really, that our nations youth get all their sexual education from friends, porn and hormone raged advances. Their knowledge on sex is tainted by popular culture and ignorance.
Youth are naturally curious and that curiosity leads them to do acts that they know nothing about in terms of the consequences it brings.

I'm lucky in the sense that I come from a very open household. I vividly remember my parents talk about 'the birds and the bees' when I was 13. Unfortunately the masses of youth never have the opportunity to access the wealth of information I have. (thanks to my mums women health magazines) [Not to mention this helpful website]

I was initially exited when the government announced its Sexual Education Curriculum in schools. The basic sperm-egg fertilization does not help much in the underlying social complexities of Human courtship and sexual behavior I'm afraid. Unfortunately time in time again the government has let me down again.

In time for our upcoming elections don't vote

they are not helping in our thirst for knowledge!

but vote

Gosh, what would we do about sex before there was Internet? Actually, my education came from fictional novels. I have a half-mind to ask what a clitoris to a group of my classmates (klee-tow-rees, is that how you pronounce it?).

PS: Now new studies says that not all woman may have a G-spot...
