Uwc Interview came and gone
The UWC interview went on better then expected. In fact I had a great time there.Great thanks
to
1.Brig.Anim Harun(really charismatic,charitable)
2.Mazlan(really funny)
3.Bk Lau(really,really nice guy)
For my enjoyable personal interview
4.Deb(damn good facilitator)
5.Edleen(thanks for the fun warming up you gave us!)
6.Fhamy(like your funny insights and young heart)
7.Lucy(*ouch)
8.Huan(thanks for measuring my failed paper bridge)
For a stimulating and exiting group interview(more like an open debate)
In fact it totally crushed the stereotype of interview in my mind. Well when I got there the first thing they did was berate the men(not boys) on their clothes. Why so stiff? Why so formal?Take off that tie lah! Not uncomfortable meh?
And personally i liked that. All my life I have been asked by my school,my parents etc wheres your tie?Its refreshing for someone to actually ask me to take it of!!
So we started with simple games and exercises so that we could loosen up and at the same time get to know one another.
The 1st game was passing the clap where the objective was to well, pass the clap. The game got progressively harder with the addition of multiple routes of passing, zapping and ahhh-ing(dont ask)It was a blast I tell you.Not to mention a fact if you fumbled you had to dance to thats the way aha-aha I like it.
The 2nd game involved name memorizing. The thing I suck the most at.Truthfully I kinda cheated and read their name tags and narrowly got by only memorizing the names they associated themselves to.(mine was michelle a foolish name I blurted out on Impulse.Sorry Michelle!!)Regardless to say i got the last name wrong,(Sahil was Jane) damn it!So I had to dance to Aha-aha i like it!well it was fun and i did my moon walk which I was practicing in my mums shop in my free time. The fact the floor was slippery helped alot to.
Then the group interview started. It was FUN!
We discussed all sorts of things like homosexuality, poverty to downright funny topics like mine which was what would you feel if your dorm mate brought over friends of the opposite sex over.It was hilarious! Then Deb HAD to up the ante and said it was an OVERNIGHT stay.Well i can let your imaginations run wild.
We also discussed topics related to my generation like the over dependence on As,over dependence on tuition etc.Did i mention homosexuality? That discussion was fun!(why do I keep saying that?)
Well I am sorry to say I did the gravest of social sins today!Well not being used to these sort of 'debates' i kept interrupting people when they were speaking! It was like Oh my god did I just do that? And it was not once but many times.Sigh i guess i kept choosing the wrong time to Butt in.
Well what to do whats done is done.Sorry for seeming such an @$$
Well the personal interviews were conducted at the same time the group one was and they just kept calling new people out at seemingly random selection.Disheartening. Well it went quite well I guess. They knew my Aunt Monica, they asked me about rmc, ragging, whether i could afford a full paying role, why i wanted to enter UWC things like that.So i left the interview with my spirits lifted.
Well i rejoined the group interview and they were finishing up on euthanasia.I really enjoyed when they moved on who would you hate to bring the most to a deserted island(except George bush and osama), your favorite books, and if you were a hero, what and who would you be?
I would like to elaborate on the many engaging discussions we had but its 5am in the morning,im tired,I have to work tomorrow, I am helping out at the temple for wesak day and did I mention work?Sigh.... if only I was Hiro Nakamura i would freeze time and write my blog the way I like it.
Anyways, best of luck to the other candidates and may god bless you!
Anyway I finally got SOME taste of excitement.Sigh back to boring work for me now :(
